Arriving to Aveiro

Aveiro is very well connected by train and bus, and it is very easy to reach from major Portuguese cities.

By Train

From Lisbon:

Direct trains run frequently from Lisbon Oriente and Lisbon Santa Apolónia to Aveiro Station. The journey typically takes around 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the service (Intercidades or Alfa Pendular).

If you are arriving from the Lisbon Airport (Humberto Delgado), you will need to catch the Metro from the airport to Oriente train/bus station. All information about the Lisbon Metro system is available here.

From Porto:

Trains from Porto Campanhã reach Aveiro in about 45 minutes to 1 hour, making it a quick and convenient trip.

Aveiro train station is located close to the city centre with easy access to taxis, uber, bolt and local buses.

If you are arriving from the Oporto Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro), you will need to catch the Metro from the airport to Campanhã train/bus station. All information about the Oporto Metro system is available here.

By Bus

Several long-distance bus companies operate regular services to Aveiro. Some bus companies also provide direct routes from the Lisbon and Porto airport to Aveiro.

The main bus companies operating in Portugal are Rede de Expressos and Flixbus .

From Lisbon:

Buses depart from Oriente and Lisbon Sete Rios stations. Travel time is typically around 3 hours, depending on traffic and service type.

From Porto:

Buses from Porto reach Aveiro in approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, offering an affordable alternative to the train.

The main bus terminal in Aveiro is within walking distance or a short uber, bolt or taxi ride from the city centre.

By Taxi/Uber/Private transfer or Rent-a-Car

You can reach Aveiro by Taxi or by app services like Uber (or Bolt) from the airport, yet these options are more expensive than public transport. Alternatively, you can book a private transfer that will be waiting for you upon your arrival at the airport.
